Partners in Business and Education.
Establishing the connection between learning and earning is the key to developing Schenectady County's future workforce.
The Business & Education Partnership is a cooperative relationship between a business or community organization and students, schools and/or school staff. The partnership strives to meet identified needs, using the resources of both partners to their mutual benefit.
Established in 1990, the Partnership includes all seven county school districts, Schenectady County Community College, Schenectady Christian School and representative business and community leaders. The Partnership has evolved into a cohesive, collaborative system focused on the following goals:
To create a better prepared workforce in Schenectady County thus contributing to the economic development of Schenectady County.
To help all students succeed in their academic efforts and to prepare for a meaningful and challenging career.
Mission
To lead a comprehensive School-to-Careers system, incorporating the full range of business, education and community partners in order to address the educational and workforce opportunities for all students and youth in Schenectady County.
Four strategies for integrating career development and workforce preparation with academic curriculum have been designed. The comprehensive program focuses on an ongoing three-year plan for all Schenectady County students.
- A comprehensive Grade 10 Career Exploration program.
- A broad-based Grade 11 Job Shadowing program.
- A focused Grade 12 Student Internship program.
- Integrated throughout all 3 years – a Certificate of Employability program.
