Support the SMAC Minutemen
The History of the Minuteman
Our nation’s defense dates back to December 1636, when colonists organized military units to defend their communities. Initially called the militia or “Minutemen,” they provided a highly mobile, rapidly deployed force that allowed the colonies to respond immediately to threats of fellow soldiers in the war.
The term was later applied to various United States military units to recall the success and patriotism of the originals, and after World War II, the aviation units became the Air National Guard. Today, the Guard makes up 45 percent of America’s military. Our brave men and women still serve our country as “Minutemen.”
